Kerala, Kanyakumari with Pondicherry & Mammallapuram

Day 01: Kochi – Thettekad (80 Km-3 hrs)

On arrival at Kochi, you will be picked up and taken on a fascinating journey to Birds Lagoon Resort in Thettakad. On arrival, check in at hotel/ resort. Spend the rest of the day at leisure trekking around the estate. Overnight stay at Munnar.

Day 02: Thettekad Munnar 60 Kms

Check out at 12 00 noon and proceed to Munnar. Check in at the resort in Munnar, rest of the day is at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 03: Munnar

A morning sightseeing trip of Munnar; visiting the Mattupetty Dam & Dairy Farm, Eco point and Kundala etc; afternoon sightseeing trip to Rajamali national park. Overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 04: Munnar – Thekkady (120 km-4 hrs)

Check out after an early breakfast and proceed to the wildlife sanctuary at Periyar/Thekkady and check in at the hotel/resort there. Go on an evening game viewing cruise on the Periyar Lake. Here you will be able to see a large variety of wildlife, which include elephants, monkeys, deer, wild boar etc, and quite a number of unique birds can also be spotted. Later, come back to the hotel; relax & enjoy your stay overnight.

Day 05: Thekkady Alleppey ( 165 Kms)

Check out at 12 00 noon and proceed to Alleppey. Check in at the resort. In the evening, go for an hour of sightseeing of Alleppey. Dinner and overnight stay at the resort.

Day 06:Alleppey Kumarakom

After breakfast, proceed to Alleppey. Check in at the houseboat. Enjoy the magic of backwater by going on a Houseboat (Kettuvallam) cruise across the backwaters. Spend the next 22 hours in your floating villa. Enjoy the backwaters of Kerala by getting a glimpse of the village life at close quarters; a unique and unforgettable experience. Enjoy the sunset & stay overnight on the houseboat.

Day 07: Kumarakom Alleppey Kovalam

Check out at 10 00 hours and proceed to Kovalam 185 kms. Check in at the hotel; rest of the day is at leisure; dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 08: Kovalam

After breakfast full day is at leisure; dinner and overnight stay at the resort.

Day 09: Kovalam Kanyakumari

After breakfast check out at 10 00 clock and proceed to Kanykumari. Check in at the hotel there. In the evening visit Vivekanda rock and watch the sunset. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 10: Kanyakumari Trivandrum Chennai

Check out at 12 00 noon and proceed to Trivandrum. You will be transferred to the Airport/Railway station for your journey to Chennai.

Day 11, Chennai Pondicherry

Arrive at Chennai; you will be picked up and transferred to Pondicherry. Check in at the hotel; overnight stay at the hotel in Pondicherry.

Day 12, Pondicherry

In the morning visit Auroville ‘the universal town’, Information centre and Matir Mandir “The Meditation Chamber” (Possible to see only from out side). After lunch proceed for sight seeing of Pondicherry – a former French enclave that is especially famous because of the mystic Sri Aurobindo; followers founded temples, Ayurvedic clinics and a number of other businesses here. Pondicherry is a former French colony on the beach with French street names, croissants and Indian policemen in French-like uniforms. Finally visit the Aurobindo ashram here. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 13, Pondicherry Mammallapuram

Check out after breakfast and proceed to Mamallapuram; on arrival check in at the hotel. In the afternoon proceed for a sight seeing of Mamallapuram ‘World Heritage Town” visiting: Arjuna’s Penance”, which is the largest bas-relief on the face of the rock. It gets its name from the figure of an ascetic who is believed to be Arjuna, the hero of Mahabharata, doing penance to obtain a boon from Lord Siva. “Five Rathas” Five monolithic temples each created in different style. They are also known as Pancha Pandava Rathas, and four of the Rathas are supposed to have scooped out of a single rock formation. “Krishna Mandapam” is a rock cut temple and has a carving showing Krishna lifting up the Govardhana Mountain to protect his kinsfolk from the wrath of Indra. “The Shore Temple” which belongs to the 8th Century AD is a good example of the first phase of structural temples constructed in Dravidian style. Return to the hotel for the night.

Day 14, Mammallapuram Chennai Airport 65 Kms

The morning is at leisure. Check out of the hotel at 12.00 noon. You will be transferred to Chennai Airport for your return journey.
